Travel itinerary

1. Day: Arrival in Sofia

Flight to Sofia. During our city tour we see highlights like the Turkish mosque, the church of Bojana or the landmark of the city, the Alexander Nevski Cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Sofia.

2. Day: Sofia – Rila – Melnik – Strumica

Today is dedicated to the world-famous Rila Monastery, one of the largest Orthodox monasteries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards we continue our journey to the town of Melnik, the smallest Bulgarian town. Here we will take a break and experience the historical sides of the town, after all 96 houses are protected. Then we visit the fortress of Melnik, which is a cultural monument of national importance in Bulgaria. In the evening we reach our hotel in Strumica, Macedonia. Dinner and overnight in the Strumica area.

3. Day: Strumica – Kavardarci - Bitola

After breakfast we visit the famous waterfalls of Strumica, Smolari. Afterwards we visit the monastery of St. Leontius in Vodoca, near Strumica - world famous for its frescoes. We will have a wine tasting in the famous wine region around Kavardarci and delicious lunch is on the menu. In the afternoon we reach the second largest city of Macedonia - Bitola. We move into our hotel in the city center, followed by a walk through the enchanting old town. Dinner and overnight in Bitola.

4. Day: Bitola - Ohrid

In the morning drive from Bitola to Ohrid. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A unique mixture of culture and nature awaits you! During our extensive city walk we see highlights such as the Fortress of King Samuel or the cathedral of St. Clement. Ohrid is the religious center of the Orthodox Church. The afternoon is free for your own explorations. Dinner and overnight in Ohrid.

5. Day: Ohrid – Mavrovo - Skopje

We leave Ohrid and drive via Debar and Mavrovo to the Macedonian capital, Skopje. On the way we visit a monastery, St.Jovan Bigorski, embedded in enchanting nature. In Skopje itself we experience a mixture of old and modern architecture. Let yourself be enchanted by the magic of the bazaar! In the evening a typical Macedonian dinner with music awaits you. Overnight in Skopje.

6. Day: Skopje - Departure

Depending on the flight time there is still some time left to explore the city on your own. Afterwards transfer to Sofia or Skopje airport and flight back home.
